The St. Thomas Police Service were kept busy by a local resident after they were arrested twice in 2 days. Police report that 35 year old Edward Steacy was first arrested Saturday night when he stole a tarp from the front yard of an Elizabeth Street residence.
Following the incident, Steacy was charged with one count of Theft Under $5000 and one count Breach of Probation and was then released on an Undertaking with a court date.
The following day around 2 p.m., Steacy was approached by loss prevention at a local grocery store after he was observed shoplifting items and being disruptive to other customers inside the store. When staff confronted Steacy in the parking lot he allegedly pulled out a syringe and threatened to kill the staff.
Officers were able to locate Steacy a short distance away and took him into custody without incident.
Crystal Methamphetamine valued at $20 was seized from Steacy during his arrest where he was charged with Theft Under $5000, Assault, Utter Threats to Cause Death, Assault with a Weapon and Breach of Probation.
He was held for a court appearance.
