Pet owners should always be on the lookout for ticks.
President of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Albert Wimmers explains that tick season should be considered year round.
Continuing, Dr. Wimmers points out that ticks don’t always live in tall grass, so pet owners should always check their pets after being outside.
He adds that prevention is the best method- a monthly preventative is available that kills ticks.
However, if a pet owner does find a tick, they should remove it and let their veterinarian identify it to see if there is any risk of your pet contracting lyme disease.
