The number of ongoing COVID-19 cases in the Southwestern Public Health coverage area is continuing to drop after a spike in numbers as a result of 2 different outbreaks.
SWPH reports that another active case have been resolved, making this the fourth straight day the health unit has recorded a resolved case. As of Friday afternoon, only 5 confirmed cases remain, with 3 coming out of Oxford County and the other 2 located in St. Thomas.
A majority of these active cases are as a result of an institutional outbreak at Secord Trails in Ingersoll and an outbreak at Ontario Plants Propagation.
In the Southwestern Public Health coverage area, 5,537 people have been tested as of Friday, with 4,941 negative results and 521 pending. A total of 66 cases have now been resolved. You are reminded that the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is now taking appointments for those that wish to get tested for COVID-19.
Today Ontario is reporting 344 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 more deaths. That brings the total in the province to 29,747, including 2,372 deaths.
More than 23,000 cases have been resolved, representing nearly 80 per cent of the province’s total. Ontario says it completed more than 22,000 tests yesterday, the second day in a row more that the province achieved its goal of 20,000 per day.
