After opening 10 days ago, the problem in Port Stanley is not so much crowded beaches, it’s the lack of parking spaces.
Central Elgin Mayor Sally Martyn says, for the most part, the beaches have been jammed but visitors are behaving and maintaining social distancing. Finding a parking spot is another matter.
Adding more parking spaces is not the issue adds Martyn, who notes every bit of land the municipality owns in Port Stanley that you can park on is already devoted to parking.
With no place in the community to add parking spots, Martyn personally feels if the parking lots are full, visitors may not stay.
