Having endured a school year like no other due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which included missing out on traditional graduation ceremonies, Sam Khzym remains optimistic.
The Parkside Collegiate Institute grad says he and the other graduating students will be successful having survived what 2020 has thrown at them. Little did the Parkside valedictorian realize the opportunity that was about to be presented to him.
Khzym recently learned he is a recipient of a prestigious $100,000 Schulich Leader scholarship.
Khzym, who was the software captain for the Parkside robotics team, admits it is a significant amount of money and he is incredibly grateful to the Schulich Foundation.
Khzym’s post-secondary education path will now lead him to the engineering stream at Hamilton’s McMaster University.
