Southwestern Public Health is reporting 2 new cases of COVID-19 coming out of Elgin County, in addition to the 2 St. Thomas cases that were announced yesterday. The health unit says that there is now a second case of COVID-19 in Bayham and a new case in Malahide.
In total there are now 5 cases of COVID-19 reported in St. Thomas, 2 in Bayham and 1 in Malahide.
Southwestern Public Health currently has 8 ongoing cases in their region with all of them coming out of St. Thomas or Elgin as the last 2 cases that were still remaining in Woodstock as of yesterday have been resolved.
In the Southwestern Public Health coverage area 14,046 people have been tested to date , with 13,675 negative results and 277 still pending.
Medical officer of health Dr. Joyce Lock said while the source of infection has not yet been traced in all cases, it is often from close contact with a friend or family member.
