A special meeting of council will be held tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon to deal with the financial impact of opening up Jaycees Pool and sports fields for a very limited season. The operating expense for opening the outdoor pool for the month of August is estimated at $70,000 with a projected revenue of just $3,000.
In a report from city manager Wendell Graves to council members, the pool opening would be limited to public swimming only with times needing to be booked and occupancy limited to 30 persons per session. Social distancing would be required.
Opening up soccer pitches for team play would require an operating expense of $24,000 with a projected revenue of $1,000. For baseball, the expense would be $27,000 and an expected revenue of $14,000.
Tomorrow’s meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. and will be livestreamed on the city hall website.
