Southwestern Public Health is reporting another significant uptick in COVID-19 cases today with eight new cases confirmed. There are now 33 active cases with six new cases in Aylmer and one each in Central Elgin and Tillsonburg. One case in St. Thomas and another in Bayham have been resolved.
There are now 15 active cases in Aylmer, six in Bayham, five in St. Thomas and one in Central Elgin. Elsewhere in the health unit’s coverage area, there are four cases in Tillsonburg and a single case in Norwich. An additional case involves an individual who resides outside the province.
The health unit says contact tracing is underway to determine the origin of the latest cases in East Elgin.
In the Southwestern Public Health coverage area 16,068 people have been tested to date , with 15,580 negative results and 366 pending. One individual is in the intensive care unit at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.
