Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for today and tomorrow.
They report that maximum temperatures today will likely reach between 30 and 32 degrees with humidex values around 41 degrees.
There won’t be much relief from the heat tonight as overnight temperatures are expected to be in the 20 to 23 degree range.
However, Environment Canada is predicting a slightly cooler and less humid air mass arriving in the area late tomorrow, which should give us a break from the heat.
Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high risk category.
Extreme heat affects everyone and the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.
