The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League has released their plans to start the 2020-21 season.
Mark Tuck, Commissioner for the league that hosts the St. Thomas Stars announced that members have determined Wednesday, December 2nd as the opening night for the 2020-21 regular season.
The GOJHL will work with the Government and the OHA to be granted approval for a 40-game regular season schedule and the regular 24 team playoff format.
GOJHL Teams will have the option to hold extended on-ice training from September to November.
Tuck said in an interview Saturday that the gate-driven league is requesting 30% fan capacity in its return plan.
So what does this mean for the St. Thomas Stars, with a capacity at the Joe Thornton Community Centre of 2500?
30% of that would be 750 fans allowed to watch a game and since the Stars averaged 387 fans last year, they could still welcome in just under 370 more fans this year to get to the 30% capacity.
