School faculty and support staff are running the risks of contracting the coronavirus by attending school each day just like the students they’re there to help.
The Thames Valley District School Board say they have a number of health protocols in place to reduce the risk of getting COVID-19 for everyone.
Director of Education Mark Fisher says for staff, that begins at home.
On top of PPE and extensive cleaning protocols, Fisher says the board hired an extra full time custodian for each school, while also implementing directional arrows and turning off water fountains.
When it comes to supply teachers, the board hired another 1,000 with an influx of absences anticipated.
Fisher says occasional teachers are receiving the same level of health and safety training as full-timers.
