The provincial government has announced it is providing financial support to local agricultural societies to help them get through COVID-19 pandemic.
The eligibility for agriculture societies to apply for funding is expanding to help offset the financial losses due to the cancellation of fall fairs, exhibitions and activities during the pandemic.
Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek says much of the money raised at the fairs and exhibitions in Elgin County is pumped back into the community.
Yurek adds that the fall fairs and exhibitions are a rich part of the heritage of many Elgin County communities.
Nearly $1 million is being made available to the over 200 Agricultural Societies in Ontario.
