The Elgin County OPP were called to two separate ATV collisions on Sunday that both resulted in serious injuries.
The OPP report that the first collision occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. on a trail near Calton Line, when a hunter went out to set up his tree stand and accidently drove his ATV into a washout, throwing both him and the ATV into a ravine.
Family members reported him overdue to police at approximately 6 p.m. and with the assistance of Malahide Fire and EMS, a high angle rescue was conducted extricating the male from the ravine.
The 51 year old Malahide man was transported to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.
The second collision occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on a trail in the area of Black’s Road and McMillan Line in West Elgin.
Police received a report of two Rodney men who were out operating ATV’s when one of them struck a pothole rolling the ATV at a high rate of speed.
The male was transported to hospital suffering serious life threatening injuries.
