The Elgin County OPP say the search for 62 year old Michael Renton has ended following the recovery of his body near the shore of Lake Erie Wednesday.
Police report that Renton was located yesterday by the OPP Helicopter deceased on the shore of Lake Erie, roughly 8 kms east of Port Bruce. Response Team members along with Malahide Fire Services Technical Rescue Team assisted last evening with the high angle (cliff) recovery from the waters edge.
No foul play is suspected in the death of Michael Renton and the OPP thank the Malahide Fire Technical Rescue Unit who assisted in the search & recovery.
The Elgin County OPP reported Renton as missing early Wednesday morning and state he was last seen leaving his residence on foot in the Port Bruce area around 10 p.m. on October 6th.
Elgin OPP, OPP K9 Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team Members along with Malahide Fire ‘s Tech Rescue Team conducted an extensive search overnight on Tuesday of both land and water, and continued the search the next day with the OPP Helicopter in to assist.
