Crime might not pay, but the cash seized from criminals certainly is.
Ontario is reinvesting $2.5-million seized from criminals to support victims and raise awareness of human trafficking.
The funding comes from the Civil Remedies Grant Program, which will support more than 30 projects focusing on prevention, crisis counselling, research and public education.
Some of the initiatives being funded include services for human trafficking victims, training for frontline officers, and investments in equipment and upgrades to better fight human trafficking.
Next years Civil Remedies Grant Program will provide funding for projects meant to prevent intimate partner and family violence, as well as gun and gang violence.
