40 COVID-19 cases have now been confirmed in an outbreak at a farm in Bayham Township.
Dr. Joyce Lock, medical officer of health at Southwestern Public Health says the cases involve a mix of local and temporary foreign workers at Martin’s Family Fruit Farms near Vienna.
She adds the outbreak is linked to the workers’ communal living quarters, and there doesn’t appear to be community transmission of the virus beyond the farm outbreak.
An on-farm inspection has taken place and public health officials are working with the farm operator to ensure all appropriate measure are in place to contain the spread of the virus and prevent future outbreak events.
The health unit says they are still awaiting test results from 3 of the total 157 swabs taken at the farm.
