Andie McGugan of St. Thomas learned at a young age the importance of finding a cause you love and dedicating your time and talents to it. And because of that, she was recently awarded with the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada’s National Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award.
McGugan’s work with the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada started when her cousin Mckenna, who was just 4 at the time, was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
As McGugan began to age and learn more about her cousin and her condition, she wanted to get involved and make a difference, thus came the Bracelets For Brains fundraising program.
Fast forward to today where the 14 year old and St. Joseph’s Catholic High School student has raised more than $4,000 for the foundation through the sales of her bracelets.
McGugan explains why she continues to support the cause.
