Our local Swiss Chalet/Harvey’s restaurant is looking to give back to the community by teaming up with Family and Children’s Services to help make a difference in the lives of people they serve.
From November 16th until the 22nd, proceeds from every Quarter Chicken Dinner or Harvey’s combo sold will help support a local youth participate in organized sports, art programs or academics, that they may not have the opportunity to do otherwise.
Myles Proulx Volunteer and Community Engagement Advocate with Family and Children’s Services of St. Thomas and Elgin explains the importance of these programs for youth.
Proulx says that for many youth, a major part of their story is still unwritten as the need for foster parents continues to be high in St. Thomas/Elgin.
Proulx says that of course fostering may not be for everyone, but there are many other ways to support these youth, including becoming a mentor.
