Ontario set another one-day record today (Saturday) with 1,588 new cases of COVID-19 reported while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 6 new cases, including one each in St. Thomas and Central Elgin. Eight cases have been resolved.
There are 59 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 21 in Woodstock, 13 in Norwich, eight in Aylmer, five in St. Thomas, four each in Tillsonburg and Ingersoll with single cases in Bayham, Central Elgin, Blandford-Blenheim and East Zorra-Tavistock.
Three students have tested positive at Assumption Catholic Elementary School in Aylmer.
Bethany Care Home in Norwich has an outbreak with 3 residents testing positive.
There are three hospitalizations at this time, none in ICU.
Forty of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 11 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 419.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 167 tests on Thursday.
