A vehicle fire that started around 11:47 a.m. Sunday in Aylmer, led to 2 people being transported to hospital for treatment.
The Aylmer Police report that they were called to the area of York Street where a 43 year old female and a 52 year old male were inside a GMC Terrain vehicle using a propane grill for cooking purposes when the vehicle interior caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames, causing an explosion.
Local fire and EMS attended the scene and were able to extinguish the fire, however the vehicle was totally destroyed as a result.
Both occupants were transported to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital for treatment where the 43 year old male of no fixed address received severe burns to his chest, legs and right arm and the 52 year old female of no fixed address received burns to her fingertips, forehead and hairline.
