This week is the start of the festive RIDE campaign.
Until January 2nd, 2021, police in Ontario will be out making sure motorists are driving sober over the Christmas holidays.
OPP Inspector Krista Miller says they expect to be on pace to hand out the same number of impaired driving charges as last year.
But she says officers could see fewer cars on the road as a result of the ongoing pandemic and the public being told to limit their travel.
Miller says officers will be equipped with face masks and gloves to ensure that the both police and the public are safe while checks are being conducted.
