Ontario reported 1,478 new cases of COVID-19 today while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 7 new cases, including two in St. Thomas. Eight cases have been resolved.
There are 55 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 22 in Woodstock, seven in Ingersoll, six in St. Thomas, three each in Blandford-Blenheim, Norwich, Tillsonburg and Zorra, two each in Aylmer, Bayham and Central Elgin with single cases in Dutton-Dunwich and East Zorra-Tavistock.
Three students have tested positive at Assumption Catholic Elementary School in Aylmer and one at Forest Park Public School.
Bethany Care Home in Norwich has an outbreak with 3 residents and one staff member testing positive. One staff member at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock has also tested positive.
There are two hospitalizations at this time, with one individual in ICU.
Thirty-six of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 12 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 455.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 237 tests on Tuesday.
