Ontario reported a record-high 1,855 new cases of COVID-19 today (Friday) while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 10 new cases, all of them in Oxford County. Twelve cases have been resolved.
There are 53 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 19 in Woodstock, seven in Ingersoll, five in St. Thomas, four each in Norwich and Zorra, three each in Blandford-Blenheim and Tillsonburg, two each in Aylmer, Bayham and Central Elgin with single cases in Dutton-Dunwich and East Zorra-Tavistock.
Three students have tested positive at Assumption Catholic Elementary School in Aylmer and one at Forest Park Public School.
Bethany Care Home in Norwich has an outbreak with 3 residents and one staff member testing positive. One staff member at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock has also tested positive.
There are two hospitalizations at this time, with one individual in ICU.
Thirty-three of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 10 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 467.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 202 tests on Wednesday.
