Ontario reported 1,746 new cases of COVID-19 today while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 6 new cases, including three in Aylmer. One case has been resolved.
There are now 70 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 28 in Woodstock, 10 in Ingersoll, 7 in St. Thomas, 6 in Aylmer, 5 in Tillsonburg, 4 in Zorra, 3 in Norwich, 2 in Central Elgin, with single cases in Bayham, Dutton-Dunwich, Blandford Blenheim, SW Oxford and East Zorra-Tavistock.
Three students have tested positive at Assumption Catholic Elementary School, one at East Elgin Secondary School in Aylmer and one at Forest Park Public School in St. Thomas.
One staff member at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock has tested positive.
There are two hospitalizations at this time, with one individual in ICU.
Forty-six of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 11 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 479.
There are 33.1 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 29.4 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 110 tests on Saturday.
