Ontario reported 1,677 new cases of COVID-19 today (Sunday), while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 14 new cases, including three in Aylmer, two in Bayham and one in St. Thomas. One case was resolved.
There are 116 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 23 in St. Thomas, 19 in Aylmer, 17 in Norwich, 14 in Woodstock, 13 in Bayham, nine in Tillsonburg, six in Blandford-Blenheim, four in Zorra, East Zorra-Tavistock and Ingersoll, with single cases in Central Elgin, West Elgin and Southwold.
Currently three people are hospitalized with two of those individuals in the ICU.
Two staff members at Bethany Care Home in Norwich have tested positive, as has one staff member at Terrace Lodge in Aylmer and Maple Manor in Tillsonburg.
Eighty-one of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 35 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 610.
There are 54.8 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 58.9 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 451 tests on Thursday.
