Ontario reported 1,940 new cases of COVID-19 Monday, while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 31 new cases, including 10 in St. Thomas, seven in Aylmer, and one in West Elgin. Five cases were resolved.
There are 142 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 32 in St. Thomas, 26 in Aylmer, 21 in Norwich, 17 in Woodstock, 13 in Bayham, eight in Blandford-Blenheim, seven in Tillsonburg, , five each in Zorra, East Zorra-Tavistock and Ingersoll, two in West Elgin and a single case in Central Elgin.
Currently three people are hospitalized with two of those individuals in the ICU.
There is currently 1 active case at Summers’ Corners Public School, 1 case at New Sarum Public School, 1 case at Davenport Public School, 2 cases at Elgin Court Public School, 2 cases at Parkside Collegiate Institute, and 4 cases at East Elgin Secondary School.
Two staff members at Bethany Care Home in Norwich have tested positive, as have one staff member at Terrace Lodge in Aylmer and Woodingford Lodge and Maple Manor in Tillsonburg.
Ninety-nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 43 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 615.
There are 67.1 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 56.5 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 245 tests on Thursday.
