Ontario reported 2,432 new cases of COVID-19 today, while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 33 new cases, including 10 in St. Thomas, three in Aylmer, two in Bayham and single cases in Central Elgin, Southwold and West Elgin.
Another death has been recorded bringing the total to 11. Eleven cases were resolved.
There are 149 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 32 in St. Thomas, 22 in Aylmer, 21 in Norwich, 15 in Bayham, 14 in Tillsonburg, 13 in Woodstock, 11 in Blandford-Blenheim, seven in Ingersoll, four in East Zorra-Tavistock, three in West Elgin and Zorra, two in Central Elgin and a single case in Southwold and SW Oxford.
Currently three people are hospitalized with two of those individuals in the ICU.
Two staff members at Bethany Care Home in Norwich and People Care in Tavistock have tested positive, as have one staff member at Terrace Lodge in Aylmer and Woodingford Lodge and Maple Manor in Tillsonburg which also has one resident infected
One hundred and three of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 40 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 673.
There are 70.4 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 57.7 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 365 tests on Tuesday.
