Ontario reported 2,316 new cases of COVID-19 today, while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 23 new cases. Eighteen cases were resolved.
There are 160 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 30 in Aylmer, 25 in Norwich, 24 in Tillsonburg, 22 in St. Thomas, 11 in Blandford-Blenheim, 10 in Woodstock, nine in Ingersoll, eight in Bayham and East Zorra-Tavistock, five in West Elgin, four in Zorra, three in Central Elgin and a single case in Southwold.
Currently three people are hospitalized with two of those individuals in the ICU.
Two staff members at Bethany Care Home in Norwich and People Care in Tavistock have tested positive, a staff member has tested positive at Seasons Retirement Home in St. Thomas, Terrace Lodge in Malahide, Chartwell in Aylmer, Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg and Maple Manor in Tillsonburg which also has one resident infected
One hundred and six of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 30 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 745.
There are 76.1 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 83.7 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 413 tests on Thursday.
