Ontario reported 2,202 new cases of COVID-19 today, while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 26 new cases, including seven in Aylmer and one each in St. Thomas, Southwold and Central Elgin. Twenty-four cases were resolved.
There are 160 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 33 in Aylmer, 23 in St. Thomas and Tillsonburg, 22 in Norwich, 12 in Blandford-Blenheim, 11 in East Zorra-Tavistock, eight in Bayham and Woodstock, seven in Ingersoll, four in Central Elgin and West Elgin, three in Zorra and two in Southwold.
Currently three people are hospitalized with two of those individuals in the ICU.
Ten residents and two staff members at Maple Manor in Tillsonburg and People Care in Tavistock have tested positive, two staff members at Bethany Care Home in Norwich and Chartwell in Aylmer, a staff member at Seasons Retirement Home in St. Thomas, Terrace Lodge in Malahide and Elgin Manor in Southwold.
Ninety-nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 26 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 790.
There are 75.7 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 84.7 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 249 tests on Sunday.
