Ontario reported 3,443 new COVID-19 cases today with 40 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting 41 new cases this morning, with 53 cases resolved. No new deaths have been reported in the region.
There are 340 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 104 in Tillsonburg, 61 in St. Thomas, 39 in Woodstock, 34 in Aylmer, 23 in East Zorra-Tavistock, 18 in Norwich, 14 in Ingersoll, 12 in Bayham, 11 in Zorra, eight in Central Elgin, five in SW Oxford, three in Southwold and West Elgin, two each in Malahide and Blandford-Blenheim and one in Dutton-Dunwich.
Currently 16 people are hospitalized with three of those individuals in the ICU.
Sixty-nine residents and 43 staff members at Maple Manor in Tillsonburg have tested positive, with 35 residents and 32 staff at People Care in Tavistock, four staff at Terrace Lodge in Malahide, one staff member each at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock, Extendicare in Port Stanley and Goodness Retirement Living in St. Thomas and one resident each at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas and Trillium Retirement Home in Norwich.
One hundred and seventy of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 43 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 1,318.
There are 160.8 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 206.9 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 156.8 cases per 100,000 population and 453.8 per 100,000 in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 232 tests on Thursday.
