The decision to not send elementary students back to the classroom in Southern Ontario this week was not made lightly.
myFM spoke with Education Minister Stephen Lecce who says synchronous online learning will continue until it is deemed safe to return.
The decision was made last week as a result of soaring COVID-19 cases.
Lecce says the province is investing more money in order to make classrooms as safe as can be.
He adds that we all need to do our part to help stop the spread.
Over the weekend, Lecce announced the province has expanded the list of essential workers who can receive free child-care to include R-C-M-P officers, custodial and clerical education workers and postal staff.
Online classes will continue for southern Ontario students until at least January 25th.
