The province has issued a stay-at-home order requiring everyone to remain at home with exceptions for essential purposes or for essential work effective Thursday.
Premier Doug Ford made the announcement earlier today. It is expected to remain in effect for at least 28 days.
I-C-U occupancy by COVID-19 patients is now over 400 beds and is projected to be as high as one-thousand beds by early February which has the potential to overwhelm Ontario’s hospitals.
Premier Ford says enforcement is going to be a priority for all enforcement and provincial offences officers.
Among the new health guidelines, all non-essential retail stores must open no earlier than 7 a.m. and close no later than 8 p.m., and outdoor organized social gatherings are further restricted to a limit of five people with limited exceptions.
