A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre in London after four employees tested positive for the virus.
The Middlesex London Health Unit says it was first notified of a positive case at the facility last Thursday, and the other cases were confirmed two days later. It says no inmates have so far been found to have contracted the virus, and no visitors to the jail were exposed.
The health unit says the virus was transmitted at the facility, so the building will undergo a thorough cleaning and there will be increased adherence to public health measures.
