Ontario reported 2,662 new COVID-19 cases today with 87 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting 15 new cases this morning, with 31 cases resolved. No new deaths were reported.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases in the region is down to 27 per day.
There are two new cases in St. Thomas and Aylmer and one in Southwold.
There are 255 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 70 in Tillsonburg, 37 in Norwich, 30 in Woodstock, 28 in St. Thomas, 24 in Aylmer, 13 in East Zorra-Tavistock, 10 in Ingersoll and Zorra, eight in Bayham, seven in Central Elgin, six in Southwold, five in SW Oxford, three in Malahide, two in West Elgin and one in Dutton-Dunwich and Blandford-Blenheim.
Currently 12 people are hospitalized with four of those individuals in the ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 42.7% were admitted to the ICU.
Eighty-five residents and 53 staff members at Maple Manor in Tillsonburg have tested positive, with 46 residents and 36 staff at People Care in Tavistock, three staff members at Terrace Lodge in Malahide, two residents and one staff member at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock, two staff members at Extendicare in Port Stanley, two residents at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas, five staff and 13 residents at Trillium Retirement Home in Norwich, one staff member at Chartwell Oxford Gardens in Woodstock and Seasons Retirement Home in St. Thomas, one resident at Dayspring Residence in Tillsonburg and Caressant Care in Woodstock, and one staff member at Elgin Manor in Southwold and Harvest Crossing in Tillsonburg.
One hundred and twenty-three of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 30 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 1,847.
There are 120.6 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 298.3 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 72.0 cases per 100,000 population and 303.6 per 100,000 in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 227 tests on Wednesday.
