He’s lovingly referred to as a celebrity at the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority and he has similar status at home in Sparta.
Victor Herrington – a volunteer for 21 years at the conservation authority – was honoured on January 27th with a June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism from the Province of Ontario.
At 68 years of age, Herrington says there is no way he is slowing down on his three to five days a week of lending a hand.
Conservation Area Supervisor Dusty Underhill says if you give Herrington a job he’ll give it 110 percent, and those efforts do not go unnoticed.
Herrington has also volunteered for many years at the St. Thomas Raceway in his hometown of Sparta.
