Ontario reported 1,172 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 67 deaths and 1,745 recoveries, while Southwestern Public Health is reporting just 7 new cases, with 15 cases resolved. Two new deaths have been recorded bringing the total to 59 since the pandemic began. Two new cases were reported in St. Thomas and one in Aylmer.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases in the region remains at 12 per day.
There are 142 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 60 in Woodstock, 18 in Norwich, 15 in Tillsonburg, 14 in St. Thomas, 11 in Ingersoll, four in Aylmer, three each in Bayham, Dutton-Dunwich, Blandford-Blenheim, East Zorra-Tavistock and Zorra, two in West Elgin and SW Oxford and one in Malahide.
Currently eight people are hospitalized with one of those individuals in the ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 38.8 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Eighty-five residents and 52 staff members at Maple Manor in Tillsonburg have tested positive, with 47 residents and 38 staff at People Care in Tavistock, two residents and two staff member at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock, 1 staff member at Extendicare in Port Stanley and Arches Transitional Bed Program in Woodstock, one resident at Dayspring Residence in Tillsonburg and 40 residents and 10 staff members at Caressant Care in Woodstock,
Forty-six of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 8 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,124.
There are 67.1 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 338.9 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 36.0 cases per 100,000 population and 53.4 per 100,000 in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 228 tests on Monday.
