Ontario reported 1,265 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 33 deaths. Meantime, Southwestern Public Health is reporting just six new cases, and six cases resolved. There were two new cases in St. Thomas.
One new death was recorded, a male Oxford resident in his 50’s with the death toll now at 63 since the pandemic began.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases in the region remains at 12 per day.
There are 134 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 77 in Woodstock, 21 in St. Thomas, 13 in Ingersoll, five in Dutton-Dunwich, four in Norwich, three in Tillsonburg, two in Aylmer, Malahide, East Zorra-Tavistock and Zorra, and one each in West Elgin, Bayham and Central Elgin.
Currently five people are hospitalized, none in the ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 37.7 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Eighty-five residents and 52 staff members at Maple Manor in Tillsonburg have tested positive, with 47 residents and 38 staff at People Care in Tavistock, 1 staff member at Extendicare in Port Stanley and Arches Transitional Bed Program in Woodstock, one resident at Trillium Retirement Home in Norwich and 51 residents and 18 staff members at Caressant Care in Woodstock,
Fifty of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 11 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,192.
There are 63.4 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 359.0 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 54.0 cases per 100,000 population and 26.7 per 100,000 in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 115 tests on Saturday.
