Ontario reported 945 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 18 deaths. Meantime, Southwestern Public Health is reporting 18 new cases. A total of 15 cases were resolved. There are two new cases in St. Thomas.
No new deaths were recorded and the toll has been adjusted back to 64 with one death determined as non-COVID-19 related.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases in the region is now 11 per day.
There are 120 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 74 in Woodstock, 13 in Ingersoll, 12 in St. Thomas, seven in Tillsonburg, four in Norwich, three in Dutton-Dunwich, two in Zorra, and one each in Aylmer, Malahide, West Elgin, Central Elgin and Blandford-Blenheim .
Currently two people are hospitalized, neither one is in the ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 38.3 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
A total of 47 residents and 38 staff have tested positive at People Care in Tavistock, 1 staff member at Extendicare in Port Stanley, one resident at Trillium Retirement Home in Norwich and 53 residents and 22 staff members at Caressant Care in Woodstock,
Fifty of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 16 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,232.
There are 56.7 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 350.3 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 30.8 cases per 100,000 population and 13.3 per 100,000 in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 231 tests on Tuesday.
