Hunger, mental health, intimate partner violence and social isolation aren’t just big city problems. And that’s why the United Way Elgin-Middlesex is shining a light on these issues during their 2021 Sleepless event that looks a little different this year.
Kelly Ziegner, President and CEO explains that in the past, people would sleep in their vehicles, but for this year’s event, everyone will be wide awake.
Ziegner says homelessness in the lens of COVID will be part of a broad conversation that will cover a lot of important issues.
The event takes place March 4th in both St. Thomas and Strathroy, beginning just before midnight and ending at 6 a.m. the next day.
