The 11 new COVID-19 cases reported today by Southwestern Public Health involve recruits and staff at the Ontario Police College. The number is expected to increase to at least 18 over the next couple of days once test results are available.
The outbreak forced the suspension of classes today (Thursday) while testing was undertaken. Those who have tested positive are self-isolating.
There is no breakdown on how many of the cases involve recruits. The college had just resumed classes in January.
The health unit is assisting with testing, case follow-up and guidance on infection control.
