The province is reporting 1,185 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 16 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting 17 new cases. Three cases were resolved. There are 14 new cases in Aylmer.
The death toll remains at 67 since the pandemic began.
The seven-day rolling average is now seven new cases per day.
There are 57 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 30 in Aylmer, 14 in Woodstock, four in St. Thomas, three in Blandford-Blenheim, two in Ingersoll and one each in Bayham, Central Elgin, West Elgin, and Tillsonburg.
One individual is hospitalized in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.8 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One resident at Aylmer Retirement Residence has tested positive.
Fifty-two of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those seven are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,379.
There are 27.0 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 17.9 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 10.3 cases per 100,000 population and Aylmer has 400.4 cases per 100,000.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 223 tests on Thursday.
