The province is reporting 1,316 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 16 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting six new cases. Seven cases were resolved. There is one new case in Aylmer with the remainder in Oxford County.
The death toll remains at 67 since the pandemic began.
The seven-day rolling average remains at five new cases per day.
There are 43 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 14 in Aylmer, nine in Woodstock, four in Norwich, three in St. Thomas, East Zorra-Tavistock and Zorra, two in Blandford-Blenheim and Ingersoll, and one each in Central Elgin, SW Oxford and Tillsonburg.
One individual is hospitalized in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.5 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One resident at Bethany Care Home in Norwich has tested positive as has one resident at Maples Retirement Home in Tavistock and one staff member at Arches Transitional Bed Program in Woodstock has tested positive.
Thirty-six of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those three are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,474.
There are 20.8 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 29.0 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 7.7 cases per 100,000 population and Aylmer has 186.9 cases per 100,000.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 267 tests on Monday.
