The province is reporting 1,371 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 18 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting 16 new cases. Nine cases were resolved. There are 10 new cases in Aylmer.
The death toll remains at 67 since the pandemic began.
The seven-day rolling average is now six new cases per day.
There are 49 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 19 in Aylmer, 13 in Woodstock, four in Norwich, three in Zorra, two in St. Thomas, East Zorra-Tavistock and Ingersoll and one each in Central Elgin, Blandford-Blenheim, SW Oxford and Tillsonburg.
One individual is hospitalized in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One resident at Bethany Care Home in Norwich has tested positive as has one resident at Maples Retirement Home in Tavistock and one staff member at Arches Transitional Bed Program in Woodstock has tested positive.
Thirty-eight of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those two are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,490.
There are 23.2 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 31.1 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 5.1 cases per 100,000 population and Aylmer has 253.6 cases per 100,000.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 221 tests on Wednesday.
