The province is reporting 1,468 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 11 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting 18 new cases. Eleven cases were resolved. There are three new cases in Aylmer and two in St. Thomas.
The death toll remains at 67 since the pandemic began.
The seven-day rolling average is now eight new cases per day.
There are 56 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 25 in Woodstock, 18 in Aylmer, four in Norwich, three in St. Thomas, two in Ingersoll and one each in Central Elgin, Blandford-Blenheim, SW Oxford and East Zorra-Tavistock.
One individual is hospitalized in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One resident at Bethany Care Home in Norwich has tested positive and one staff member has tested positive at Arches Transitional Bed Program in Woodstock.
Forty of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those three are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,501.
There are 26.5 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 32.9 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 7.7 cases per 100,000 population and Aylmer has 240.3 cases per 100,000.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 199 tests on Thursday.
