A 22 year old male is facing multiple charges after attempting to disarm an officer Sunday.
Police say the incident began when they were called to a residence on Horton Street by EMS who reported a male out of control.
Once on scene, officers located the male in the backyard with his girlfriend, who had already taken a gun from his possession.
The male then grabbed the handle of an officer’s gun and was instantly arrested and put in handcuffs.
The 22 year old was charged with Disarming a Peace Officer, Careless Storage of a Firearm and unauthorized possession of a weapon as it was learned that the gun was not stored properly in the home and the male was not authorized to have any firearms.
The man was later transported to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital by EMS to be assessed by doctors.
