Ottawa and Ontario have announced 656.5-million dollars in funding to help schools make key infrastructure upgrades amid the pandemic.
$16,729,500 of the funding will be allotted to the Thames Valley District School Board and London District Catholic School Board and was provided through the COVID-19 Reliance Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program
Much of the funding will be used to support ventilation projects that improve air quality in classrooms.
The Thames Valley District School Board will be using a portion of the funding to enable outdoor Wi-Fi Access Point enhancements at 30 schools in St. Thomas and across Elgin county.
MPP Jeff Yurek says it is critical these schools, many of them in rural areas and older, receive the necessary infrastructure upgrades to protect student and staff wellbeing and enhance technological capability. “I am proud that the provincial government continues to prioritize the safety of all those learning and working in our school system” added Yurek.
