The province is reporting 3,482 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 16 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting 44 new cases since Friday with 42 resolved.
There are 15 new cases in St. Thomas with one in Aylmer.
The death toll sits at 76 since the pandemic began.
No updated info on variants of concern is available at this time.
There are 140 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 33 in Woodstock, 32 in St. Thomas, 31 in Tillsonburg, 11 in Aylmer, six in Ingersoll and Norwich, five in Central Elgin and Dutton-Dunwich, three in SW Oxford, two in Blandford-Blenheim and East Zorra-Tavistock and one each in Bayham, Southwold, West Elgin and Zorra.
Three residents and three staff member have tested positive at Caressant Care in Woodstock.
Ten individuals are hospitalized, three of those in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.0 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Ninety-three of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 26 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 3,234.
Through April 17 – the latest data available from the health unit – 43,175 individuals have been vaccinated by SWPH, with 41,048 of those having received their first dose.
There are 66.2 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 186.2 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 82.2 cases per 100,000 population and Aylmer has 146.8 cases per 100,000.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 101 tests on Friday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 23 Friday.
