All flags have been lowered at schools across St. Thomas and Elgin.
The Thames Valley District School Board and London District Catholic School Board have lowered the flags at all schools to half-mast to recognize the bodies of 215 Indigenous children found near a residential school in British Columbia.
The TVDSB says flags will remain in place until June 8th or 215 hours — one hour for each child.
School signs across the board will also read 215+ Lives Lost, Every Child Matters.
This week, students, staff, families and community members are encouraged to wear orange in honour of their memory.
