The province is reporting 733 new COVID-19 cases and 25 deaths this morning while Southwestern Public Health is reporting three new cases with two resolved. There were two new deaths, female Oxford residents in their 70’s. The death total is now 82 since the pandemic began.
For the second consecutive day there were no new cases in St. Thomas or Elgin county.
Seven hundred and ninety-seven of the confirmed cases involve variants of concern, with 44 cases still active.
There are 48 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area with 13 in Tillsonburg, 10 in St. Thomas, nine in Woodstock, six in Zorra, three in Norwich, two in East Zorra-Tavistock and in one each in Bayham, West Elgin, Ingersoll, SW Oxford and Blandford-Blenheim.
There are no active institutional cases.
Three individuals are hospitalized, none of those in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.0 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
Thirty-five of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 16 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 3,668.
The health unit announced Monday more than 100,000 individuals have been vaccinated by SWPH.
There are 22.7 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 46.1 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 25.7 cases per 100,000 population and there are no cases in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 159 tests on Monday. The West Elgin Community Health Centre did 17 Monday.
