A house fire Monday night on Myrtle Street has caused roughly $250,000 worth of damage.
At around 8:30 p.m., the St. Thomas Fire Department responded to several 911 calls to 7 Myrtle Street and located a fire at the rear of the home, extending through the roof.
All residents safely escaped the home, and all pets where found safe.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer Kim Destun says working smoke alarms throughout the home had alerted the residents and allowed them to escape and call 911.
